Conservative Englanders

There's always been a prevading thought that most citizens in U.K. are seen by the world as posessing a too rigid conservative way of life, the way they dress, spend money, etc. Is that true?

    ... the stereotypical English gentleman...
well-dressed, thoughtful, well-spoken, polite to everyone, kind in criticism, what else?

While in London, I had the pleasure of working with such a man. Though conservative in his personal life, not Conservative in his politics!... (quite objective in his criticism in Thatcher).

male american friends are way more polite and respectful than most of those i know here in england. i could just be lucky in whom i have met.....but none of them are conservative!

i agree with Grimm, Brits are becoming less restrained in their actions and idea's and Americans seem to be becoming more conservative.

        time for all change??
