join the army...oh really...suppot war?

it bothers me how much publicity there is in regards to recruting people for the forces -- especially the army -- whether its an add you see in the paper, on TV, or an army kiosk in your local shopping mall. is there no counter reaction. do we not think!

do we not have a conscience?

maybe there is a counter reaction and existing movments that target the issue directly campaigning against army recruitment amoungst things; but not much i am aware of. please inform me. how much of an issue is it in the uk?

how is it that we can be so anti-war, rally agianst it, be against the irac situation ect..and yet liberally just except all the public propaganda and advetisments telling us to join the army? what a good career move your can make. hey there's plenty of adventure, excitement. you get a steady income, stability ect..(deliberate sarcasm). do we except this as normal? maybe because we have got so use to the propaganda we have become numb to the real issues at hand.

the underlying principle of the army is war ain't peace. its about destroying others thru forceful means and ultimatly the worst case scenario is...killing...as harsh as it may sound; and many war victims are innocent civilians.

where's your/our conscience?

do we not think and question?yes there can be plenty of adenventure and excitement. you may even end crawling around in the dirt in a foreign country (travel as well) blindly shooting a rifle at other you know absolutely nothing about, and/or dodging bullets from them. yes, a good career move indeed. and if you end up in an army office, or with a spanner in your hand fixing plane whatever.., you still support war because because you still support it just as much as somene holding a rifle.

lets think!

let me first say that i was born in this country, grew up in south africa and have been living in the uk for the last 7 years. in south africa, although the army was compulsory at one time, but we had big 'end consciption' campaigns, we used to boycott this and that . some people used to even go oversees or end up in prison for a period to avoid the army to make their stament... war is wrong.

let me ask you again...are you anti-war? really ? your thoughts

peace

Why should you be anti war?

And of course which war would that be?

And why is your morality better than any one else's?

fair enough. C if you disagree and you are OK with war thats fine. you are entitled to your opinion. i don't claim my morality is better than anyone elses, i am simply expressing my opinion and hope to raise the awarness of the propaganda preached to us in everyday situations which we often do not think about.

what about the propaganda of the anti-war and anti-military movement? You know, the one that say the military is a bunch of idiots (in the US, our average education level is higher than the same age group in the civilian world), that the pay is super low (average military pay is equivalent to average pay among similar age/experience/education groups - and when total compensation is added, including housing, food, benefits, and retirement, the pay is FAR superior), and the worst of the nonsense that you guys prattle on about - that the world doesnt really need us.

Which would you rather have, recruitment, or a draft?
